Nita Yancey began studying art in Columbia, South Carolina in the early 1970's. Her style has matured over the years from her classical training in watercolors to a much more creative technique. She is constantly re-inventing her works to make them more appealing to the viewer. Nita uses many new methods in her watercolors. She uses color to invite the viewer into her work. She also utilizes various textures through the use of paper, collage, tearing, pressing, and gluing paper. Nita uses random objects, which she finds interesting characteristic in to compliment her varying style and unique techniques. She uses designs and movement to produce modern, inspiring, and unparalleled art for enthusiasts in the world today.
Nita's Work has been seen in many private and public collections. She truly has a style that appeals to many art lovers. A few of these collections include: Anderson County Arts Council, Colonial Life Insurance, C&S Bank, Southern Bell, SCANA, Siebels Bruce Co. Ross Collegiate CPA Firm, South Carolina State Fair Purchase Award, and Mynd Corporation.
Her instructional activities include: Artist in Residence for the SC Arts Commision, Richland County Senior Art Classes Instructor, Substitute art teacher for 13 years with Lexington County, and Numerous workshops.
